How can I use the Library in the Sparkler Dashboard?
You can use the Library to find activities and tips that meet families’ needs. If you are serving a child of a particular age, you can find activities for that age child. You can also filter by the skill you want to work on with the family. Once you find something, you can press send to share it with a family or multiple families that you serve. You can also find TIPS for parents by clicking on the “tips” tab at the top. Learn more from

How does Ohio's ASQ Online via Sparkler relate to the SUTQ requirements for a screening tool?
Bronze tier
- Programs must document/confirm that the screening was completed, and the results were shared with the families. They can view completed screenings and the date results were shared with families on the ASQ Dashboard tab within their Sparkler Dashboard.
Silver tier
- Programs must document that a referral occurred. They can view any referrals and/or resources provided by a Help Me Grow Developmental Screening Specialist by reviewing ASQ Follow-up Forms on the ASQ Dashboard tab within their Sparkler Dashboard.
Gold tier
- Programs must follow-up on referrals provided by Help Me Grow and document that follow-up with the family has occurred. As a familiar entity to the family and as an entity that has a relationship with the child and family, it is a best practice for the program to speak to the parent to confirm that the needed referrals and follow up was received through Bright Beginnings and Help Me Grow. The program should not assume that just because the family used the app that all requirements have been satisfied.
How do we stay in compliance with SUTQ if a parent does not give written permission for a screening?
First, you would document that a family is refusing to complete a screening tool for their child and, if available, the reason why. Then, the program must complete one (unless the parent out rightly denies permission for the program to fill out a screening tool). Finally, the program would contact the family to discuss results and provide referrals/resources if necessary or email Help Me Grow's Developmental Screening Specialist team at
[email protected]
to ask that they contact the family on the program's behalf.
Is there a document providers can use to obtain permission to complete the ASQs on the dashboard?
If the provider is creating the family/child account on the family’s behalf in Sparkler, a permission form should be used by the provider to capture the parent’s consent. The provider will be checking that the parent consented in order to create the account. Programs may choose to use this sample permission form or create a similar one of their own.

Completing the ASQ as a provider
Providers can complete the ASQ Online through the Sparkler web-based dashboard. The ASQ helps to understand how an individual child is developing and whether there are any concerns. The screening identifies a child’s strengths, uncovers new milestones, and reveals areas where a child may need support.
After completing a screening, Help Me Grow may provide referrals to early intervention and home visiting services, and connect providers to local resources that can be shared with the family.
For a child’s information to show up in your dashboard, the family must associate itself with your program by either: 1) using your program’s unique access code; or 2) granting written consent for you to create the child’s profile on the dashboard.
