Read about Gina

Gina, mom of two-year-old Isaac, decided Home Visiting was exactly the kind of support she needed when she was pregnant. She had just moved to Toledo and she needed resources, support, and information.

Gina said Home Visiting was the best support she had.

“I love my home visitor. She is one of my favorite people in the world. I love talking to her. We connected immediately,” she said.

Gina, who also has a 20-year-old son, felt like she was starting all over again as a parent. Her home visitor helped her feel more confident.

“Starting over at this point, I didn’t have a lot of confidence in myself, and I really gained that from the home visitors [I’ve had]. They really encouraged me, and they’re right with me any time I need anything. As far as development goes, if I have any questions, they’re right there. It really does put my mind at ease that I’m doing the right things at this point in life."

Gina appreciates the support she has received, especially throughout the pandemic, by having someone who checks in on her and Isaac. She also enjoys the way Home Visiting helps her feel like part of a community, even virtually.

“We would have get-togethers – like at the zoo, or Christmas parties – and I think it was really cool to do those things on Zoom together. It was really nice to be able to connect in that way,” Gina said.

When asked what she would say to other families considering Home Visiting, Gina says “I would recommend it. One hundred percent!”
